At the end of 1997 I hit a crossroads in my career and was unsure of what path to take in my professional life.
After nearly 15 years of teaching aerobics, I wanted a fresh challenge and decided I wanted to return to my passion, which was dancing.
As I was nearly 40, the thought of going back on stage was not really an option, plus the fact I did not know how theatres would react if I insisted on having an iron lung and an oxygen tent made readily available as I staggered into the wings after a gruelling 20 minute rendition of “Agadoo”!
After much thought I decided to try my luck teaching dance in schools and after a year of establishing myself I have never looked back.
I work regularly in 8 schools covering PPA time and also run various lunchtime and after school Dance Clubs, all of which are full on a regular basis.
I also run Dance Workshops locally and nationally which involves me going into schools for a one off day, where I teach each class from Reception through to Year 6 and then put on a performance at the end of the Workshop so as all the children can watch what the other classes have put together.
I choose songs past and present which I know the children will love, then choreograph them myself and the end result is a dazzling dance routine of which all the children have worked extremely hard to create.
I absolutely love what I do and feel very blessed I can earn my living by doing a job I adore.
